COURSE OVERVIEW:
The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) is a globally recognized credential. Being CAPM certified creates opportunities for entry-level project management roles like project coordinator associate and junior project manager with little to no project management experience.
This 3-days course is designed based on “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)” to fulfil the educational requirement of the 23 Professional Development Units (PDUs) for the CAPM® exam.

- Demonstrate an understanding of project management fundamentals and core concepts.
- Explain when it is appropriate to use a predictive, plan-based methodologies.
- Explain when it is appropriate to use an agile frameworks/methodologies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of business analysis frameworks.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- CAPM is ideal for entry-level professionals, project team members and project managers seeking to advance their knowledge and current skillset and implement best practices in their work.
METHODOLOGY:
- Engaging and interactive way of course material delivery is carried out using the demonstration method and real life examples and exercises.
- Recap after a lunch/coffee/day break helps participants to enhance their understanding.
- Knowledge check exercise is conducted every day before the end of the class.
The CAPM certification requires passing one exam conducted by PMI.org.
Exam Format:
- The CAPM exam contains 150 questions, and exam duration is three hours.
- Of these questions, fifteen are “pretest questions.” These are used by the PMI as a way to test future examination questions, appear randomly throughout the test, and are not counted in your score.
Exam Fee, as of July 2022:
- Non-PMI members: USD 300
PMI members: USD 225 - Becoming a PMI member costs USD 129 a year, plus a one-time USD 10 application fee.
- The exam fee is mandatory and must be paid online directly to PMI. If you do not pass the exam on your first try, you must pay a re-examination fee to take the test again.
Exam Retake:
- Once a candidate’s application to take the CAPM exam is approved, they have one year and three attempts to pass the test.
- If a candidate is unable to pass the CAPM certification exam within the one-year eligibility period, they must wait one year from the date of their last attempt to resubmit their application for the CAPM credential.
- The exam retake fee is, USD 150 for PMI members and USD 200 for nonmembers.
Application Processing:
- Applications will be processed in 24 hours or less.
- This processing time line does not apply if your application has been selected for PMI’s audit process.
To apply for the CAPM certification, you must meet the following prerequisites.
- Hold a secondary degree (a high school diploma, an associate degree or the global equivalent).
- Complete 23 hours of project management education by the time you’re scheduled to take the exam. (These 23 hours of project management education criteria can be satisfied by completing this course.)

- Each participant will receive a copy of the course documentation and practice question set prepared by Emergence Skills.
- Each participant will get access to PMI PMP at PMI Lochoice.
- For Virtual Live Class (VLC), video recording will also be shared with all participants.
- The renewal of certification is required every three years.
- This entails completing 15 professional development units (PDU) in each three-year period.
- The renewal fee is USD 60 for PMI members and USD 150 for nonmembers.
Note:
- Professional Development Units (PDUs) are one-hour blocks of time that you spend learning, teaching others, or volunteering. By accumulating and tracking these over your certification cycle you can maintain your certification status with PMI.
- The renewal process to maintain CAPM certification is updated periodically, so it’s essential to check PMI’s website for the most current renewal requirements and costs.
